Yea I know- buy a real welder. This thing has been in the family for 9-10 yrs i think. It's a good hobby welder, has always done what I needed it to do- til, now. Welds as if there is no argon. Just got a fresh bottle, regulator is a decent one from airgas. No kink in supply hose from tank to welder or from solenoid the mig gun.

I can release the wire feed and pull the trigger- you can feel the initial blast of argon and seems like it continues to come out til you release the trigger. Was laying beautiful beeds just a week ago, same spool of.030 wire. Reg set to 20, tried bumping up to 28, welding in the garge with doors closed (no wind). Not sure what else to look for. It's been a couple yrs since I replaced the liner I know Lincoln bought Century- so maybe the local Airgas shop that sells Lincoln can/will fix the thing. I just hate to pitch it when it's been a good welder If I do repace it I'll likley drop some coin on a better blue or red unit.

But after just finishing a new racer cash is slim Ideas? The reason I say check the ground lead and clamp is that I chased a similar problem on my mm251 for a few months before I happened to pop the clamp off the welding table right after welding and found it to be hot as hell. My crimped lug on the wire to the ground clamp had burned through the back of the clamp. Everything still looked fine, but I popped the clamp off the table to do some welding elsewhere and found the clamp to be very hot.

Insulation on the ground lead was melted back from the lug an inch or so. Replaced it with a brass clamp, and it has been good since. Mine would cause lots of slag and porosity, but somewhat intermittently. Before the ground got really hot, it would weld pretty much fine. As soon as I would get going for a few minutes, it would start acting up, and get worse the longer I welded.

Change you liner though, it is cheap insurance and should be changed like any other consumable.
