About Ford Cortinaclubsa Ford Cortinaclubsa was founded by Dirk Van Den Heever and Dee Maistry in April 2012. We started with three club members and is now currently 60 Ford Cortina Members.
The Ford Cortina is a family car built by Ford of Britain in various guises from 1962 to 1982. The Cortina was Ford's mass-market compact car and became Britain's best-selling car of the 1970s.
Ranging from Mk1, Mk2, Mk3, Mk4, and Mk5's. Our first big event was at the Cars in the Park in Pietermaritzburg in May 2012. Following the first Classic Car Show at Calisto's in the South hosted by www.classiccars.co.za and the had 10 Ford Cortina's at this event. Ford Cortinaclubsa is a club for family and friends and boutwe do Breakfast runs, and are very involved with Charity Events.

Our goal for the furture for our members of the club is, to grow from strength to strenght and become the biggest car club in South Africa. All Ford Cortina owners are welcome to join our club. We do not charge club fee's but you are required to purchase a Club Shirt and Caps.

We update our member on a regular basis for upcoming events, and they are always welcome to bring their family and friends with. This is also a good way to make new friends, with the same passion and enthusiasm about Ford Cortina's. Unfortunatly our club only accepts Ford Cortina's with any engine conversions.
We have prize giving days on a regular basis and we also choose 'Car of the day at big events' this is a good way to thank our club members for their support. At the end of the year we have a Christmas Function for our Club members and their family's.
We have a club to have fun and we dont allow any politics in our club, we are approachable and any one can feel free to ask any Ford Cortina owner about the conversions to his/her car. The Cortina was produced in five generations (Mark I through to Mark V, although officially the last one was called the Cortina 80) from 1962 until 1982. From 1970 onward, it was almost identical to the German-market Ford Taunus (being built on the same platform) which was originally a different car model. This was part of a Ford attempt to unify its European operations. By 1976, when the revised Taunus was launched, the Cortina was identical. The new Taunus–Cortina used the doors and some panels from the 1970 Taunus. It was replaced in 1982 by the Ford Sierra. In Asia and Australasia, it was replaced by the Mazda 626-based Ford Telstar, though Ford New Zealand did import British-made CKD kits of the Ford Sierra estate for local assembly from 1984.
The model's name was inspired by the name of the Italian ski resort Cortina d'Ampezzo, site of the 1956 Winter Olympics. As a publicity stunt, several Cortinas were driven down the bobsled run at the resort which was called Cortina Auto-Bobbing.
