  1. Mar 31, 2004  it won't be enough because it isn't a specific shop manual, but Pat Braden's Alfa Owner's Bible has some useful bits in it for you (besides being just enjoyable reading). I though I'd found a Haynes manual from the UK site, but it doesn't include the GTV6.

Hi Guys, I just acquired an Alfetta that runs on a GTV6 engine (practically saved her from scrappies). I was wondering if there are any ebook, or Workshop Manual available for the engine.

While i was turning the engine clockwise rotation the timing belt snapped (Lucky didnt start her up), think have to set the timing belt for it. So how do i determine the TDC? I am not sure the no 1 piston location. Anyways where the heck is the dipstick for the engine?? Searching high and low couldnt find it Any help???

Manual

I bought a copy of the factory workshop manual for the Milano and GTV6 from Ereminas last century. It never had any sections that were specific to the GTV6, only sections that were common to both.

So, no specific electrical components or wiring, no body parts, panels or interior parts. My question is does anyone know of where I can find the missing sections? Or, if they were ever available?

The TOC in the copy of the manual I have leaves out several sections. Specifically: 3,6,8,9,10,11,14,16,18,19,20, and 24. Then the manual jumps to 40, 43, then 80. Any assistance in finding the appropriate GTV6 sections will be appreciated.

I am afraid that it is the same manual I bought for my GTV6 from Ereminas back in the early 1990s.

That manual, Alfa Manual 4608, was supposed to be for the Milano and GTV6, but it had very little information that was specific to only the GTV6 like body information, interior and exterior assemblies or GTV6 specific wiring. The manual from Ereminas has 220 pages on Milano wiring not including the section of ignition and charging which are common to both models. The Ereminas manual is strange in that it leaves out numerous, but unidentified sections. The sections missing are 3,6,8,9,10,11,14,16,18,19,20, and 24. Then the manual jumps from section 25 to sections 40, 43, then 80.

What are the missing sections? Are they available anywhere.

I also sent an inquiry to AROC about some of the manuals they list. I've attached a copy of the Ereminas manual's TOC. From the GTV-6.org website: Workshop Manuals & Books The Factory Manual is a good reference. It is really the Milano (Alfa 75) manual - but has extra chapters to cover the GTV6. Unfortunately, there is no information on brakes (non ABS) or even bodywork. It is useful to have the Haynes manual that covers the 4 cylinder Alfetta's as a supplement.

This manual will have information on most of the GTV6 bodywork as well as the complete (non ABS) braking system. An alternative is to purchase the GTV6 manual on CD ROM. One source for this is a company called CarDisk.

highly recommended! Another book that is highly recommended is 'The Alfa Romeo Owner's Bible' by Pat Braden. A great book for any Alfa enthusiast! Alfa Romeo Alfetta GT - All 4-cylinder and V6 coupes - by David Owen. Not sure if this is still in print, but it provides a good description of the development process for the Alfetta. This book is published by Osprey AutoHistory.

Note that there can be gaps in the sequential numbering for group numbers that have not been assigned (perhaps for future expansion?). Examples of non-assigned group numbers are 11, 14, 18-20, 36-39, etc. In many cases, as it pertains to workshop manuals, group numbers for an individual system can be combined into one group of which that system is a part. For example, Gr. 03 (valve timing gear) and Gr.

06 (lubrication system) would be included in Gr. Rear brakes Gr. 26 is combined with Front Brakes Gr.

22; Steering linkage Gr. 24 is combined with Steering Gr. So it's not that some group numbers are missing from a workshop manual but rather a number not being assigned and/or a group being combined with another group. Bruce, I'll email you either later today or tomorrow AM. An incredible piece of information. Thank you papajam. I heard back from Joe at Centerline.

He provided the exact information that I needed about the GTV6 - Milano Workshop Manual they have listed in their catalogue. The manual they have contains very necessary information for the GTV6 and Milano, but is limited to a small number of common systems. Here is the TOC: 'Unfortunately the manual we have is as follows (compiled from multiple sources), and doesn't have much GTV/6 specific information: Complete 2.5 Milano manual Addition of GTV/6 clutch and gearbox section (which were never included in the Milano manual) Addition of Milano 3.0 sections Addition of ABS section Addition of Cruise Control section I am not sure there was a single unified GTV/6 manual (I've never seen it) - rather the basis the factory techs used was the Alfetta manual and then addendum were made to that manual where the GTV/6 systems differed. However when the Milano came out there was a new manual published.' Joe goes on to suggest contacting AROC, if one is a member, for more detailed information.

I would add, if you are not an AROC member, you should be. Thanks again.
